The construction and manufacturing process of these bits reduces the damage that can destroy or cause premature wear to this type of tool. Stress peaks are a common cause, in particular the damage generated immediately when the screw touches the metal surface when coming to a dead stop. The heat-treated torsion 'zones' absorb large amounts of the kinetic energy produced rather than the tip, therefore reducing breakages.
